Analysis of
the thrillers
The audience has been positioned to see the characters in the
films as scared or shocked so it can match the genres as a whole and the characters
has to be seen as serious. The male gaze theory has been used in ‘Run’ because
the woman wears a sports bra and sport shorts (that reveals parts of the body)
and in ‘Jumper’ because the woman wears a dress (revealing the shoulders and
the rest of the arm and maybe the bottom half of the leg), but stereotyping
hasn’t been used in any of the short films. I want to use the idea of a stalker
because I think it’ll match the genre that I am doing and it’ll keep the
audience wanting to carry on watching and it’ll cause tension. I want to also
use a different range of camera shots and movements because it’ll make the film
less boring and it’ll have different point of views. I also want the film
setting to be both day and night because depending on what happens it’ll
contrast between the two settings.
I've completed this task the way it is because I needed ideas for what I could include in my short film. What I've done is I went onto word and YouTube to study and analysis three short films because I needed ideas for what I could include in my film to make it match the genre. I think it will have an impact on my film if I include some of the ideas I've wrote down.
